Lake County Record Contacts

Lake County Busted Mugshots is a private reference resource, not a government office. It cannot confirm a person's custody or release, release anyone, post bond, or retrieve official booking records. Direct those questions to the government office that created or holds the record. In an emergency, call 911.

The Sheriff's public-records production hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sheriff paper copies cost $0.08 per page, while emailed copies have no charge. Those charges are specific to the Sheriff and do not establish the fees of Mentor, Willoughby, or Painesville. A request should identify the person, relevant date range, and the record sought. The Sheriff's official phone directory and Jail Roster are the direct starting points.

Choose the record holder based on the question, not just the place where a news story appeared.

  • For current or recent county detention, start with the Sheriff's dated roster files and the Adult Detention Facility information line. A release file describes someone who has left the current county-custody view.
  • For a booking record or photograph not present online, use the Sheriff's public-records process and Jail Records Division. A city police department may hold the original arrest record for a city arrest.
  • For a Lake County felony case or later court disposition, use the Clerk's ShowCase court search. Municipal courts handle their own local records and early proceedings.
  • For a warrant question, use the official Sheriff or court route. The Most Wanted page distinguishes the selected Sheriff list from court warrant sources.
  • For a sentenced Ohio prisoner's custody record, use the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction offender search, not the county booking roster.
  • For federal custody, use the Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
